Microfiber Sofas & Furnitures: Are They Really Stylish and Durable?
Are you thinking of buying a new furniture for your home – perhaps change an old worn-out sofa set with a modern yet inexpensive one? If you do, then you’re also probably thinking of getting one that’s not just stylish but also very comfortable and quite durable.
Have you ever heared or perhaps considered of buying microfiber sofas?
I honestly didn’t really have that much of an idea about microfiber sofas until my husband and I thought of changing our old set of couches in our TV room. So when I started to do my homework – that is researching and canvassing which particular style, design and fabric would do well with our family’s use as well as on our budget, that’s when I came across these so-called microfiber sofas.
What’s in a microfiber sofa?
After doing a little peek-a-boo on the net and talking to family and friends about a trusted brand name they can recommend and where to buy them, these "microfiber sofas" reached my ears. Though when talking about microfiber, what immediately comes to my mind are those particular types of fabric which I use in my kitchen to wipe stuffs like glasswares and wood surfaces. They are indeed very good cleaning and wiping aids as they don't leave lint behind so I keep several strips of the fabric at home. But microfiber sofas?
Same as those kinds of cleaning fabrics, microfiber sofas are made up of very fine strands of man-made synthetic fibers which are a hundred times finer than human hair. Woven so tightly and finely together, these fibers are known to produce an exceptionaly soft yet very durable fabric which makes them a very suitable material for use in making various kinds of upholstery products and furnitures such as a microfiber sofa. The 100% polyester-made microfiber sofas can hold its shape fairly well enough to even endure constant rugged use. Beyond that, its stain and water resiliency is what really makes microfiber sofas to stand out. That is why microfiber sofas are very popular among families who have small children and pets around in the house for even with too much use, they still do require lesser care and maintenance compared to other fabrics.
So from this point on, I’ve gathered that these new pieces of furnitures made with the same soft yet extremely durable kind of fabric called microfiber are the ones we call microfiber sofas. Modern home furnitures such as sofa sets and beds made with the use of microfiber seem to have produced very impressive results. So while its known to combine both style and durability, no doubt they have become one of the most popular furniture choices used particularly in the homes and offices.
Durability and Style
For a family of three – looking for a set of comfortable couches to lounge on and relax while watching TV isn’t that much of a problem. But still, we need to look not just for comfort but also for durability and of course - a style that would fit with the other furnitures in our small TV room for its the place where we spend most of our time being our entertainment and family room at the same time. Also, the TV room turns into my toddler’s favorite daytime playroom as well. So if there’s any other place in our house that needs a really durable, comfortable and long lasting multi-functional sofa set (aside from our living room or salon) to lounge or sleep on our daytime naps, then it has to be in our TV room.
I’ve heard many of my friends talking about how happy they were for having a microfiber fabric over their couches. And though I couldn’t agree enough (I had not tried using one yet), they are indeed looking very chic and are very comfortably soft to lounge on. They say its really a durable furniture – just exactly the same thing they were promised before purchasing them. Since they’ve been using it for quite a couple of years now – and with their small kids walking and jumping on it, I have to say it still looks like their microfiber sofas have just been bought a few months ago.

And when it comes to style, it looks like a microfiber sofa has all it takes to change the outlook and feel of every family’s living room or office.
Quite a little more cheaper than the regular leather couches, microfiber sofas come in a variety of colors, different textures, and designs to suit every room. Among the many designs available in the market to choose from are contemporary, traditional, and transitional styles. There are sectional microfiber sofas that come with or without Ottoman sets, sectional recliners with sleepers, love seat sets with or without pleated skirts, while other couches come with multi-throw pillows. Whatever style you choose, there seems to be something that will suit with the furnitures in a home.
For families with kids or pets around the house, using a microfiber sofa can be a very good choice. Toddlers and kids will love the soft cottony feel of a microfiber fabric on a sofa while at the same time providing protection from accidental spills and stains. Microfiber fabrics are woven too finely that even pet hairs can hardly get into the fabric making cleaning a lot more easier as pet hairs can be brushed off easily.
Microfiber sofas, especially the ones that are really made up of 100% polyester fiber have a lesser tendency to fade, stain, leave water marks on or leaving your pet’s trapped fur behind. And when it comes to cleaning, just a wipe of hot water or a dab of dish washing liquid can instantly remove even the greasiest spots. This allows parents to have ease and comfort in cleaning and maintaining this type of furniture. And as microfiber sofas can hold up quite well enough with regular use, then it sounds like they may help save you hundreds of dollars from buying another sofa in the next few years. Due to its being stain and water-resistant capabilities, microfiber-made sofas are more likely to easily outlast other types of fabrics.
Now I no longer wonder why microfiber sofas have become one of
the most popular furnitures recommended for both home and office use - for with all these great benefits from
a piece of furniture, I should be looking forward to use one in our home - soon!
